What is Good Literature?

      What can good literature be? Good literature can have different views by various artists, however, Of Mice and Men is an excellent writing piece that many say is good literature.

       Steinbeck believes good literature is the "human heart in conflict within itself." According to Steinbeck, "Fearful and unprepared, we have assumed lordship over life and death of the whole world of all living things." Humans have learned to create and take away life. Humans feel conflict in the heart as a way of life.

       In Of Mice and Men, Curley is always trying to pick a fight with other people. Candy states that "Curley's like a lot of the little guys. He hates big guys." Curley despises the fact that he is short, so to make himself seem bigger, he fights the big guys.

      George would often yell at Lennie out of frustration. George once roared "What ever we ain't got, that's what you want." George talks of what a life he would have without Lennie. He could live easy, have a job, and own a place. Instead, he must take care of Lennie and keep him out of trouble.

      Good literature consists of conflict of "human heart within itself." John Steinbeck's book, Of Mice and Men, is a great example of what good literature is.

Best 4th of the North

      Fife Lake, Michigan has been my home for a long time. Though I have not lived there for more than a year now, I can still remember how my July 4th went.
     When you pulled into town, you had to work your what through the crowded streets and get into parking spots. Once you have found a parking space, you are free to roam the streets, looking at the beautiful, precious cars from the old days. As you work your down towards the lake, the sound of waves crashing on the sandy beach get louder and louder. The smell of the Loon's Nest Pizza make you hungry, and the warm summer air makes you excited to jump into the cool lake water. After you grab some soft ice-dream, you can talk to your friends friends while watching fireworks on the beach.

The Day of Terror

      Not all Muslims are terrorist. However, those who are view terrorism as the beginning of a holy war. They try to strike fear into Americans, hoping to win power over us. The terrorists tried several times, but the one attack that affected the U.S. most was 9-11. It was what terrorist wanted for years, to start a war. To prepare for 9-11, muslim terrorists said supplications from the Quaran. They believed they were doing the right thing, and that God wanted them to destroy "the enemy". After the attack, U.S. troops fought back for years to track down the leaders of the attack, and bring them to justice.
